Arjun entered the Humane Animal Society (HAS) shelter under quarantine. After observation, HAS realized it was nervous aggression not rabies – crowds of staring people, chickens, cows, dogs, bicycles, rickshaws, and motorcycles on the streets of India – too much, it made him nervous. Within a week we gained his trust, reading aloud to him, giving him a biscuit when he was quiet, and a gentle touch. Arjun is unsure when meeting people; but once he knows he can trust them, he is fine. Arjun is a delightful dog who thrives on companionship and loves to goon walks and play with his ball. He is strong on lead and needs an understanding home with an experienced owner and no young children or cats. We have begun socializing and training him, which the new owners would need to continue. During a recent 3-night homestay, he was immediately calm, behaved splendidly in the house, and barked only when someone was at the gate. With a patient and gentle touch, the new owner will have a friend for life. Cost of international transportation and health certificates covered by HAS; local assistance from destination airport appreciated, cost can be covered by HAS. Shelter handler/travel companion has offered to stay for one week to help Arjun settle to new home.Available to travel: Titer test, complete September, 2018; can travel to Europe and UK in September; can travel to USA in June
